Perky peach at ripe peak
blushes.
Either crushed by enamel and shredded by enzymes
today
or awaken tomorrow a wrinkled mush and descend into rot.

Excellent piece! I like the contrasting images that the opening and closing words of the poem..."perky" and "rot" convey. Very nice!
